GUJCET 2026 exam on March 29 for engineering & pharmacy admissions

Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) has officially announced the date for the Gujarat Common Entrance Test GUJCET 2026. The exam will take place on 29th March 2026 in a single shift from 10 AM to 4 PM. This State entrance test is conducted every year for admission to engineering, pharmacy, and diploma pharmacy degrees offered by colleges in the Gujarat state. 

The board has informed that detailed information regarding the GUJCET 2026 application process, along with the official information booklet, will soon be made available on the official website. Candidates will be required to fill out their application forms online within the schedule that will be released later by the board.

As per the government of Gujarat education department, it was made compulsory from 2017 onwards for students to qualify for the GUJCET exam for admission into degrees like engineering and pharmacy. Students need to qualify for the exam after completing class 12th from the science stream. 

Syllabus and exam pattern

GUJCET 2026 exam will be designed based on the NCERT syllabus for Class 12 Science subjects, including Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics. This syllabus follows the academic structure implemented by the Gujarat Board from June 2019 as per the Education Department’s resolution dated 25th October 2017.

The exam will include multiple-choice questions (MCQs)testing students’ understanding of problem-solving abilities. The paper structure is as follows:

Physics and chemistry will be combined into one paper consisting of 80 questions carrying 80 marks in total. The duration of the test is 120 minutes. 

Biology and mathematics will have a separate paper containing 40 questions for 40 marks. The duration of this paper is 60 minutes. 

Candidates will be provided a separate OMR sheet for the answer to each paper. 

The questions will be available in 3 languages: Gujarati, English, and Hindi. It provides accessibility to students from different backgrounds. 

Last year’s statistics

In the previous year 2025, a total of 137799 candidates registered for the GUJCET exam, including 75558 boys and 62241 girls. The exam was conducted on 23rd March 2025 in various exam centers in Gujarat. Candidates are advised to keep visiting the official website for regular updates regarding the exam.
