Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released an important notice for students of Classes 10 and 12 appearing for the 2026 board examinations. The board has clarified the complete division of theory and practical marks for every subject, along with important instructions for schools. Students can check the subject-wise marking scheme through separate notices available on the official website cbse.gov.in.
Practical exam schedule
In a circular issued by CBSE on Tuesday announced that practical exams, project assessment, and internal assessment for both class 10th and 12th will be held between 1st January to 14th February 2026. Schools have been asked to be extra careful while uploading marks as CBSE has observed frequent mistakes in this process. The board has stressed that such errors must be avoided this year.
Subject-wise list with complete marking structure release
To help school conducts assessments smoothly, CBSE has released a detailed subject-wise list for classes 10th and 12th along with the circular. The list mentions:
- Class
- Subject code
- Subject name
- Maximum theory marks
- Maximum practical marks
- Project assessment marks
- Internal assessment marks
- Whether an external examiner is required
- Whether the board will provide a practical answer book
- Type of answer book for the theory exam
CBSE has also confirmed that each subject carries a total of 100 marks divided between theory, practical, project, or internal assessment, depending on the subject.
Schools have been instructed to go through this annexure carefully to avoid confusion during exam preparation.
Schools Asked to Follow All Rules Strictly
CBSE has told all schools to complete practical exams, internal assessments, and project work within the given dates and follow every instruction carefully. The board said that strict and proper work from schools is important so the 2026 board exams can run smoothly without any mistakes or delays.
The notice has been issued to give clear information to both students and schools, making sure that all exams are organized properly and without confusion.
