The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released an important advisory regarding the Common University Entrance Test for postgraduate courses (CUET PG) 2026. With the registration deadline approaching, candidates who are interested to appear for the examination are urged to complete the application process without any delay. As per the latest notification, the CUET PG 2026 registration window will close on 14th January 2026, and no applications will be accepted after the deadline.
In its advisory, NTA has once again reminded students to carefully complete all steps of the online application process. Candidates must ensure that they fill out and submit the CUET Exam PG 2026 application form through the official portal and pay the prescribed examination fee within the given time. The agency has also provided the importance of downloading and saving the confirmation page after successful submission, as it may be required for future reference during the admission process.
The testing agency clearly stated that only those candidates who have successfully paid the examination fee will be considered as having completed the application process.
NTA further advises students to thoroughly verify all the details entered in the form before proceeding with the fee payment. Once the fee is paid, no corrections or changes will be allowed in the application form under any circumstances. Therefore, candidates are advised to review personal information, academic details, subjects’ selection and exam city preference carefully.
NTA has also announced a revision in the number of exam cities for CUET PG 2026. Compared to the previous year, the total number of exam cities has been reduced. Earlier, CUET PG examinations were conducted in 312 cities, but for 2026, the number has been brought down to 292 exam cities. According to official details, the CUET PG 2026 examination will be held across 272 cities in India and 16 cities outside India, offering candidates both domestic and international test centre options.
NTA has clarified that there are no changes in the exam pattern or the number of subjects for CUET PG 2026. The entrance test will continue to be conducted for 157 subjects, maintaining consistency with the previous examination structure. Each paper will have a duration of 90 minutes, allowing candidates adequate time to attempt the questions.
CUET PG 2026 examination is scheduled to be held in March 2026, though the exact dates will be announced separately on the official website. The exam plays a crucial role for students seeking admission to postgraduate programmes across a wide range of institutions. Qualifying CUET PG enables candidates to apply for PG admissions in Central Universities, State Universities, private universities, Deemed to be universities and other participating institutions for the 2026-27 academic session.
With the registration deadline nearing, candidates who have not yet applied are strongly advised to complete the process at the earliest to avoid last minute technical issues. NTA has reiterated that no extension in the registration date should be expected, and late submissions will not be entertained.
