IIT Kharagpur stated in a statement that the highest placement offer in the 2025-26 phase-1 placement is 2.44 crore. 1,501 job offers were confirmed, including 457 pre-placement offers and 15 international offers. Phase 1 of the IIT Kharagpur placement was held between 1 December 2025 and 3 January 2026. Finance, Consulting, Engineering, Technology, analytics, and manufacturing are the demanding sectors in the IIT Kharagpur placement 2025-26 session.
In 2003, the institute made a milestone by accomplishing 1,000 placements in a single day. It is confirmed by the institute by stating that “A historic milestone was achieved on day two of placement at 8 AM when the institute crossed 1,000 job offers”. It is actually achieved by the IIT Kharagpur after accessing the data of the phase-1 placement drive 2025-26.
Many US companies are taking an interest in Indian students despite the US visa policies. Some of the potential hiring partners are Apple, Tesla, Google, and Microsoft. Other well-renowned companies that gave job offers to IIT Kharagpur students are Airbus, Walmart, Amazon, McKinsey, American Express, Samsung Korea, L&T Finance, Tata Group, Texas Instruments, Siemens, and many others.
Prof. Sanjay Gupta, Chairperson, Career Development Centre (CDC), IIT Kharagpur, said, “The exceptional outcomes of the placement season underscore the strength of our collaborative model, despite the challenges in the job market”. The phase-2 of the IIT Kharagpur placement session 2025-26 started on 16th January 2026.
