Support skills, ease of movement of workers, students, Ind-EU mobility pact brings opportunities for Indians

India and the European Union finalised a comprehensive mobility agreement which is going to be beneficial for students who belong to India or Europe. This agreement was summoned during the talks among Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, European Commission President Ursula Von der Leyen and European Council President Antonio Casta.

After the summit, Prime Minister Modi said, “The pact will open new opportunities in the European Union for Indian students, workers and professionals.” Apart from this, he also stated in his media statement that, “we have a long-standing and extensive corporation in science and technology. Today, we have decided to strengthen these important linkages further.”

This agreement was a long awaited and it is going to provide clear direction, promote innovation, strengthen security corporation and deepen people-to-people ties between India and Europe. At a media briefing, India foreign Scretary Vikram Misri said, “The pact will facilitate and streamline safe and regular migration, support skill development and ease the movement of highly skilled workers, students, researchers and seasonal workers.”

Now, students or professionals who are planning to work or study in the EU can do that easily. The European Union has taken a step toward mobility by launching its first pilot European Legal Gateway Office. That will provide information and support to the movement workers related to the information and communication technology sector.

Both nations have agreed to collaborate in higher and vocational education. They aim to promote skill development through regular and safe migration, education and skill dialogues, and transfer of advanced technological knowledge. It is great news for the students or workers to build their career in academia, research and technology. These steps will facilitate recognition of qualification and the learning period in India as well as Europe.
