UPPSC Exam Calendar 2026: Mode of Exam

As per the standard UPPSC examination process, most preliminary examinations are conducted in offline mode using OMR sheets, where candidates are required to mark their answers on a prescribed response sheet. These prelims exams are objective in nature and are mainly used for shortlisting candidates for the next stage.

The main examinations, on the other hand, are held in descriptive (written) format. Candidates are required to write detailed answers in conventional answer sheets, which test their analytical ability, subject knowledge and writing skills. Understanding the mode of examination at an early stage helps aspirants plan their preparation strategy more effectively.

Important Documents to Keep Ready

Candidates planning to appear for UPPSC examinations are advised to keep all essential documents ready well in advance. These generally include educational certificates and mark sheets to verify academic qualifications, along with a valid photo identity proof such as Aadhaar card, PAN card, voter ID or passport. Applicants belonging to reserved categories should also ensure they have their category or caste certificates, if applicable. Keeping these documents prepared beforehand helps avoid last minute issues during the application and verification process.
