While announcing the initiative, the Education Minister, Harjot Singh Bains, said that Punjab will become one of the state board in the country to addopty end-to-end digital evaluation marking system. This is a transformative and revolutionary step in the Punjab Education System.
Moreover, Bains said, “This digital system will enable teachers to evaluate scanned answer sheets on computers, with marks calculated automatically by software, ensuring faster and more accurate results.” This will help the education system in Punjab to combat advanced technology and provide youth with equal and faster opportunities.
Then he said, “The system has already proved its mettle by evaluating 23,000 answer sheets swiftly and accurately during the September 2025 supplementary examination.” By following this, the Punjab School of Education Board will implement the OSM (On-Screen Marking) system from now on in the Board Examination.
In the context of Technical Safeguard, Bains stated that “Each page of the newly designed answer sheet features a unique QR code, enabling secure scanning and seamless digital processing.” The OSM will make the evaluation process faster for the students and it can be implemented on other competitive examinations too. In 2026, Students who are going to appear for the Board Exam may not wait for as long as previously. This is a great update in the education system of Punjab.
