Merit List & Final Selection Process

The final merit list for SSC CHSL 2026 will be prepared based on candidates’ performance in all applicable stages of the examination process. After the declaration of Tier-I results, shortlisted candidates will appear for Tier-II and marks obtained in the written examinations will play a crucial role in determining final selection.

As the examination is conducted in multiple shifts, SSC follows a normalization process to ensure fairness in evaluation. The normalized scores are used for preparing the merit list. Candidates must also qualify in the Skill Test or Typing Test, wherever applicable; however, these are qualifying in nature and do not carry additional marks unless specified otherwise in the official notification.

The final selection will be made on the basis of combined performance in Tier-I and Tier-II, subject to meeting the prescribed cut-off marks and eligibility criteria. In case two or more candidates secure equal marks, SSC applies tie-breaking criteria such as higher marks in Tier-II, date of birth (older candidate preferred) and alphabetical order of names, as per the official rules. The final merit list will be published on the official website along with category-wise cut-offs and post allocation details.
