The Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IIT-H) has opened applications for its Summer Undergraduate Research Exposure (SURE) 2026 program. This internship is designed for undergraduate and graduate students and offers a chance to gain hands-on research experience at one of India’s top engineering institutes. Internship Details
The SURE 2026 internship will run for one month, one-and-a-half months, or two months, depending on the student’s preference. A total of 250 seats are available, including 100 seats reserved for women. Students will receive a stipend based on the duration of their internship:
- Two months: INR15,000
- One-and-a-half months: INR10,000
- One month: INR7,500
Candidates can select the duration that suits them, but no other benefits or allowances will be provided.

Who Can Apply?
This program is open to students from institutions other than IIT Hyderabad who meet the following criteria:
- First-year MSc students in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, or Biology
- First-year MA students
- Second or third-year Btech & BDes students (all branches)
- Third or fourth-year students of Integrated Btech-MTech. programs
Additionally, candidates must be among the top 20% of their class based on CGPA or percentage in all previous years of study. This ranking must be certified by the Head of the Institution or Principal at the time of application.
Applicants must be full-time students during the internship and be available to work full-time for at least one month. Part-time or online internships are not allowed.
How Are Candidates Selected?
The selection process includes:
- Preliminary screening of applications
- Department-wise online interviews conducted by faculty mentors
- Selection based on:
- Academic performance and class rank
- Work done beyond regular coursework
- Achievements in competitive exams (Olympiads, National Talent Search Exams, etc.)
- Performance during the interview

Selected candidates will be informed via email. The final list of interns will also be published on the SRC Office webpage of IIT Hyderabad.
