The Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad has officially announced the academic calendar for the 2026-27 session, detailing the schedule for classes, internal assessments and final examinations for students of Classes 9 to 12.

As per the released calendar, the new academic session will begin on 1 April 2026. The first unit test, consisting of MCQ-based questions from the syllabus covered till early July, is planned for the second week of July. This will be followed by the second unit test which will be descriptive in nature and conducted in the last week of August 2026.

The half-yearly examination process will start with practical exams in the fourth week of September, while the written exams are scheduled to take place during the second and third weeks of October. The marks obtained in these exams are expected to be uploaded on the official portal by the first week of November.

Further, the third unit test (MCQ-based) is set for the last week of November, and the fourth unit test (descriptive) will be conducted in the final week of December 2026. The board has set 10 January 2027, as the deadline for completing the syllabus for Classes 10 and 12 while Classes 9 and 11 will finish their syllabus by 25 January 2027.

Pre-board activities will begin soon after, with Class 12 practical exams starting from 11 January 2027. The pre-board written exams for Classes 10 and 12 are scheduled to commence from 18 January 2027.

For Classes 9 and 11 the annual examinations will be held between 1 and 10 February 2027. The evaluation process and uploading of marks are expected to be completed by the third week of March 2027.

Meanwhile, board practical exams for Classes 10 and 12 will be conducted from 27 January to 10 February 2027. The final board examinations are scheduled to be held in 2027 February as per the official timeline.

Exam Pattern and Assessment Structure

As per the academic calendar released by the Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad, the evaluation pattern for the 2026-27 session will continue to follow a mixed format of objective and descriptive assessments. The unit tests have been clearly divided into MCQ-based and descriptive formats ensuring a balanced evaluation of both conceptual understanding and written expression. The first and third unit tests will be conducted in MCQ format while the second and fourth tests will focus on descriptive answers.

The internal assessment system will remain an important part of the overall evaluation process. Performance in unit tests and half-yearly examinations will contribute to continuous assessment helping schools track student progress throughout the academic year.
