Kerala’s general education minister V Sivankutty has confirmed that the secondary school leaving certificate (SSLC) results are likely to be announced in the third week of May 2026, while the higher secondary results are expected on 25th May 2026. The announcement has brought relief to lakhs of students and parents across the state who have been eagerly awaiting the results.

According to an official statement 613 SSLC students and 592 plus two students in the gulf region were affected by this decision.

Alternative Evaluation Method For Gulf Students

To ensure that students do not surfer because of the extraordinary circumstances the state government has announced alternative methods of evaluation. For SSLC students marks will be calculated based on their model examination or term examination performance, along with a certain percentage of grace marks. For plus  two students the marks scored in first year higher secondary exams along with continuous evaluation and practical marks will be carried  forward to determine  final score.

Evaluation Process Already Underway

The evaluation of answer sheets for both SSLC and plus two exams has already begun and reports indicate that the SSLC valuation  process will continue until 2nd May while the valuation for higher secondary exams is being carried out in designated camps across the state. The timely completion of evaluation is expected to ensure that the announced results dates are met without delays.

This year the Kerala board exams witnessed participation from lakhs of students. The SSLC exams begin in march and were conducted across thousands of centres in Kerala and outside the state. Education  authorities has earlier assured students that the results publication process would be completed smoothly despite logistical challenges/

Government strengthen Transparency Measures

Along  with announcing  the results dates, ministry  Sivankutty also highlighted the need to improve transparency in the continuous evaluation system. The state has received complaints that some teachers were awarding internal marks without properly following the guidelines, to address these issues schools have been instructed to display internal assessment scores in notice boards so that students can verify them. Schools  level grievance committees will also examine complaints related to internal assessment marks.

In addition the government has announced study support programmes for students in class 5th to 9th who scored below 30th percent in written examinations. This program will run from 20th April to 27th April 2026 followed by special examinations at the school level to help students improve their academic standing.
