HTET 2026: Registration notice coming soon; exam likely on 17 & 18 January 2026

Board of School Education, Haryana (BSEH) is expected to release the official notification for the Haryana Teacher Eligibility Test (HTET) 2026 very soon. According to board officials,  the notification may be issued this week, and the examination is expected to be scheduled on 17th and 18th January 2026. Candidates who are planning to apply for teaching jobs in Haryana government schools should keep their eyes on the official website for any updates.

An official from the Haryana Board of School Education confirmed the proposed schedule and said that the board has suggested 17th and 18th January as the exam dates. Final approval from the state government is still awaited. The official also stated that the board is fully prepared to start the online registration process. Once the exam dates are approved by the government, the application process will begin.

Through these updates, we can expect that the HTET 2026 registration window may open as early as this week. The board will publish complete details related to the application schedule, eligibility criteria, exam pattern, and important instructions on its official website. Candidates who desire to register for this exam are requested to read the complete details in the notification first before proceeding.

It is mandatory to qualify for the Haryana teacher eligibility test for candidates who wish to become teachers in government schools in Haryana. HTET checks the teaching ability and subject knowledge of candidates and ensures that only qualified individuals enter the teaching profession. The exam is conducted in three different levels based on the class and position for which the candidate is applying.

HTET Eligibility Criteria 2026

HTET is divided into three levels:

  • Level 1 Primary Teacher: Candidates must have passed class 12th and should hold a diploma in education (DEd).
  • Level 2 Trained Graduate Teachers: Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree along with a Bachelor of Education  BEd qualification.
  • Level 3 Postgraduate Teachers: Candidates should have completed their postgraduate degree and must also possess a BEd degree.

Candidates must note that one of the most important points is that there is no age limit to appear for the HTET examination. This allows both fresh and experienced candidates to apply without any age-related restrictions.

The board is expecting a large number of applicants for HTET 2026. More than 3 lakh candidates may register for the January 2026 session. In the previous HTET exam, the percentage remained quite low. HSBE data shows that out of 3.31 lakhs candidates, only around 47,000 candidates, which is nearly 14 percent, were able to qualify.

Registration is likely to begin soon. Candidates are advised to start preparing early and stay updated through the official HSBE website for the latest announcements related to HTET 2026.
