The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has announced a new Master of Science (MSc) in Data Science and Analytics, starting from the January 2026 academic session. The program will be offered by the School of Computer and Information Sciences (SOCIS) and will be delivered through the Open Distance Learning (ODL) mode.
The two-year course has been outlined to address the growing need for professionals skilled in data analysis and decision-making. It focuses on building strong computing and statistical abilities, enabling students to use data science tools to solve real-life problems in areas such as healthcare, business, engineering, and social sciences.
Admissions for the January 2026 session are open until 31 January 2026. As a flexible exit option, students who complete the first year of the program, which includes two semesters or 40 credits, will be awarded a Post Graduate Diploma in Data Science and Analytics.
To be eligible, candidates must have a bachelor’s degree of at least three years from a recognized university. The program fee is INR 13000 per semester, excluding registration and development charges. IGNOU stated that the course aims to make data science education accessible to a wider group of learners across the country.
