The Indian Navy has officially started the recruitment process for Agniveer SSR, Agniveer MR, and SSR Medical Assistant posts for the 01/2027 and 02/2027 batches. Candidates who wish to serve in the Indian Navy can apply online through the official recruitment portal. According to the latest update, the application process will begin on 14th March 2026, and the last date to apply is 6th April 2026.
This recruitment drive is being conducted under the Agniveer scheme, which allows young candidates to serve in the armed forces for a fixed period while gaining valuable training, discipline, and professional experience. Interested candidates must complete the application process online and ensure that all required details are filled correctly before the deadline.
Indian Navy Agniveer Recruitment 2026
The recruitment includes three major posts. These are Agniveer SSR (Senior Secondary Recruit), Agniveer MR (Matric Recruit), and SSR Medical Assistant. Both male and female candidates are eligible to apply for the Agniveer SSR and MR posts, while the SSR Medical Assistant post is open only to unmarried male candidates. Candidates should carefully check the eligibility criteria before applying.
Selection Process Through INET 2026
The selection process will begin with the Indian Navy Entrance Test (INET) 2026, which will be conducted in an online mode. Candidates who qualify in the entrance test will move to the next stages of the recruitment process. These stages include the Physical Fitness Test (PFT), written examination, and medical examination. Only those candidates who successfully clear all the stages will be considered for final selection in the Indian Navy.
The INET 2026 examination is expected to be conducted in May 2026. Candidates are advised to start their preparation early to perform well in the examination and improve their chances of selection.
Eligibility Criteria for Different Posts
The eligibility criteria differ depending on the post applied for. For the Agniveer SSR post, candidates must have passed Class 12 with Physics and Mathematics, along with at least one subject from Chemistry, Biology, or Computer Science, from a recognized board. For the Agniveer MR post, candidates must have passed Class 10 (Matriculation) from a recognized board. For the SSR Medical Assistant post, candidates must have completed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
Candidates must also meet the age criteria, which generally falls between 17 and 21 years, depending on the batch and recruitment guidelines.
Application Fee and Correction Window
Applicants are required to pay an application fee of INR 550 plus 18% GST during the submission of the online application form. The payment can be made through various online modes such as debit card, credit card, net banking, or UPI. The Navy will also provide a correction window from 10th April to 11th April 2026, allowing candidates to make necessary changes to their application forms if required.
Training After Final Selection
Candidates who are finally selected will undergo basic training at INS Chilka in Odisha, followed by professional training according to their assigned trade or branch in the Indian Navy.
