The National Medical Commission (NMC) has announced an extension for medical colleges to submit details of students admitted to the first year MBBS program for the 2025-26 academic session on its official admission portal.
As per a notification issued by the Undergraduate Medical Education Board (UGMEB), institutions can now upload the required admission information until midnight of 31 March 2026.
The extension aims to provide colleges with additional time to ensure the accuracy and completeness of student admission data. The NMC stated that the decision was taken following requests from several institutions seeking more time to finalise and submit the necessary details.
The notice further mentioned that the Commission had received multiple requests from institutions seeking the reopening of the portal to submit pending admission details. Considering these representations, the NMC decided to provide additional time for colleges to complete the process within the revised deadline.
The Commission has also instructed all medical colleges and institutions to ensure that the complete and accurate admission data of students is uploaded on the portal before the extended deadline to avoid any discrepancies in official records.
Extension Gives Students More Time for Admission Formalities
The NMC’s extension for submitting first year MBBS admission data is expected to benefit students by providing additional time for completing necessary formalities. With the revised deadline of 31 March 2026, students who faced delays in document verification or counselling processes will now have a smoother pathway to confirm their admissions.
Officials noted that the extension will help ensure that provisional admissions are accurately recorded, reducing the risk of errors or omissions in official records. This move is likely to ease pressure on both students and colleges allowing the admission process to proceed without last minute complications.
NMC Extension Covers Hundreds of Colleges and Thousands of MBBS Seats
The deadline extension by the National Medical Commission (NMC) affects a significant number of institutions across the country. Over 600 medical colleges are required to submit admission details for more than 1.1 lakh MBBS seats for the 2025-26 academic session.
According to officials, a considerable portion of these admissions was still pending due to delays in document verification and counselling formalities prompting the need for the extended timeline. The move ensures that all student records are accurately uploaded, helping maintain transparency and consistency in the admission process.
